The Acting Director General and Chief Executive Officer, National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo Dr. David Adebiyi Shofoyeke has mourned the passing of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. Shofoyeke in his condolence message made available to news men yesterday at the Institute’s corporate headquarters in Ondo City said that Akeredolu’s death was a grief to family, the state and Nigeria at large. He was an astute politician, a legal icon and affable philanthropist who will be greatly missed. The transformation which he brought when he presided over the affairs of Ondo State will remain indelible. Worthy of mention is his commitment towards improving infrastructure, human capital development and stamping on insecurity. Dr. Shofoyeke further stated that Arakunrin Akeredolu’s passage constitutes a big blow to the people of Ondo State as he will be remembered as one who made the welfare of his people a top priority and one who carved a niche for himself as a bold and strong defender of his people. The Institute community alongside the host community in Ondo will forever be grateful for the role the late Governor played in restoring peace and stability in NIEPA during the relocation saga that rocked the Institute sometimes back. While praying for the repose of the soul of Akeredolu, he added that the thoughts and prayers are with the people of the state and the bereaved family during the trying period.
