NIEPA Shines at Federal Education Sector Games in Bauchi
A rich contingent representing the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Education, participated in the fourth edition of the Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM) in Bauchi State billed for Tuesday, 13 August, 2024.
Before departing for the games, the Ag. Director-General, Dr. David Shofoyeke, a sports enthusiast, charged the team to make NIEPA proud by winning medals at the event. He then used the occasion to urge Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) at national and sub-national levels to use sports as a source of economic empowerment towards improving the livelihood of young and senior citizens for nation-building.
The NIEPA contingent led by Mr. Chris Afiabor included specialists in football, volleyball, table tennis, chess, scrabble, long jump, badminton, basketball, and sprinting.
The Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu, was represented by the Director of ICT, Federal Ministry of Education, Alhaji Isa Abubakar, who flagged off the games, emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity, synergy, and productivity among stakeholders in the education sector.
In the same vein, host Governor Bala Mohammed highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation among participating agencies and athletes. The Bauchi State Governor reiterated that the event, which is an annual exercise where all agencies and departments under the ministry come together to participate in various games is not only about winning medals but to bring unity and cooperation among the participating agencies and athletes. The Governor concluded by saying that the door of the ministry would always be open for partnership with the federal government in anything that would enhance the productivity of staff and reform the education sector in the country.
NIEPA’s participation in the games aligns with the Institute’s commitment to promoting education and productivity. The team’s performance is expected to be outstanding, given the expertise and dedication of its members.
