NIEPA, UBEC Host National Workshop on Effective School Management
Lokoja, Kogi State – The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has launched a national workshop on Effective School Management in the 21st Century. The 5-day workshop, held at the Confluence Hotel and Lounge in Lokoja, Kogi State, aims to equip educational administrators with the skills and knowledge needed to drive educational excellence.
The Acting Director-General of NIEPA, Dr. David Shofoyeke, highlighted the importance of effective school management in achieving quality education. He emphasized that the workshop would provide a platform for participants to share experiences, learn from best practices, and develop strategies for improving school management.
The Director, Education Planning, Research and Development, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Obianuju Anigbogu, represented by Mr. Matthew Nganjiozor, Director PRS, NEMIS, noted that school leaders play a critical role in creating a conducive learning environment that promotes academic achievement and social development.
The representative of the UBEC Executive Secretary, Mr. Arogundade Olusegun, assured participants of UBEC’s continued support and emphasized the Commission’s commitment to promoting universal basic education.
The Executive Chairman of Kogi SUBEB, represented by Alhaji Alhassan Adakeke, expressed the state’s commitment to improving education and highlighted the importance of effective school management in achieving quality education.
Participants, comprising education secretaries, headteachers, and principals of junior secondary schools, expressed confidence in NIEPA’s ability to deliver quality training and pledged to cascade the knowledge gained to their colleagues.
The workshop progressed with participants engaging in discussions, presentations, and interactive sessions, exploring best practices in school management, leadership, and pedagogy. The outcome is expected to be a renewed commitment to improving education quality and a cadre of well-equipped educational managers and planners who can drive this vision forward.
