ICT DEPARTMENT ORGANIZES IN-HOUSE TRAINING FOR ESTABLISHMENT UNIT STAFF
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) recently organized a 3-day in-house training for the Establishment Unit of Registry staff on Office Productivity Tools, specifically Microsoft Excel. The training aimed to boost the capacity of the Establishment officers and enhance their skills in data management and analysis, according to Mr. Akinyamoju Sina, Head of ICT department.
In his opening remarks at the Institute’s ICT lab, Mr. Akinyamoju highlighted the importance of ICT in the Registry, emphasizing its role in simplifying day-to-day activities. He commended the staff’s resolve and desire to improve and sharpen their use of Microsoft tools, urging them to be relentless in their pursuit of mastery.
Led by the Establishment Unit head, Mrs. Olasumbo Ogunsola, staff members were drilled on using Excel functions and formatting efficiently, creating professional documents, and presentations with minimum effort. The sessions were engaging and characteristic of the Institute’s unique training technique which engenders group discussions and a do-it-yourself approach.
In an interview with the Institute’s media team, Mrs. Ogunsola expressed her appreciation to the Institute Registrar, Dr. Festus Olaolu for approving the training exercise for the unit. She noted that the training was crucial in improving their job performance, particularly in staff data management and personnel analysis, which is essential for the smooth operation of the unit and the Registry as a whole.
At the end of the successful 3-day training on Wednesday, 30th July 2025, Mr. Akinyamoju Sina extended an invitation to all other departments to submit their technological and ICT-related needs and challenges to the ICT department. He assured that the ICT department was ready and capable of meeting these needs, both within the institute and externally. He appreciated the Ag. Director General Dr. David Shofoyeke for creating and enhancing a conducive environment for the department to carry out its activities.
The ICT head further emphasized that the training was part of NIEPA’s ongoing efforts to invest in staff capacity building and professional development, aligning with the Institute’s mission and vision.
