NIEPA Concludes 2-Day Induction Programme for New Staff

The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) recently concluded an induction programme for its newly recruited staff members. The elaborate programme which spanned two days was designed to familiarize the new employees with the institute’s structure, policies and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into their new roles.

Representing the Acting Director General/Chief Executive of NIEPA, Dr. David Shofeyeke at the opening ceremony, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Festus Olaolu, congratulated the newly employed staff on their new roles. Dr. Olaolu assured them that they were joining a team dedicated to excellence in capacity building of the education sector workforce and innovation in educational planning and administration. He added that NIEPA has carved a niche for itself in supporting the growth and development of its staff members, equipping them with the knowledge and skills via internal capacity-building programmes necessary to excel in their various roles and contribute to actualizing the Institute’s mission and vision. “We are confident that your passion, expertise, and commitment will drive us forward, and we look forward to seeing the impact you will make,” Dr. Olaolu said. He urged the new staff to work together to achieve greatness and illuminate the path to a brighter future for the Institute and Nigeria.

The Head of the Establishment Unit, Mrs. Olasumbo Ogunsola, also charged the newly recruited staff to take their responsibilities seriously and strive for excellence. She emphasized that few were chosen for this opportunity and that their dedication and commitment would shape the future of the institute. Mrs. Ogunsola encouraged the staff to be proactive, innovative and passionate about their work, assuring them that the institute would provide the necessary support and resources for them to excel.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the Registrar of the Institute, Dr. Festus Olaolu, led the series of lectures, providing a comprehensive overview of the institute’s structure, zonal offices, and job schedules. He also introduced the new staff members to the Public Service Rules, emphasizing the importance of understanding these guidelines. Other speakers included the Deputy Bursar, Mr. Bola Adejori, who represented the Bursar, Mrs. Lolade Shittu, and highlighted the need for them to be well-versed in Financial Regulations.

 Additionally, the Acting Head of the Publication and Documentation Department, Mr. Adeniyi Adetunji, showcased the Institute’s library resources, while the Deputy Registrar for Council Matters and General Administration, Mrs. Folayemi Akinladejo, provided valuable insights into NIEPA’s operational framework.

The Deputy Registrar for Establishment Matters, Mrs. Olasumbo Ogunsola, delivered a compelling presentation on ethics and discipline in the public service, outlining the dos and don’ts for the new staff members. Additionally, the Head of the Management and Records Unit, Mr. Biola Abidoye, explained the line of authority and communication protocols within the institute.

On the second day, the Deputy Registrar for Academics, Mr. Afolabi Alade, focused on strengthening institutional security, emphasizing the critical role that staff members play in maintaining a secure environment. Other speakers included the Heads of ICT Department, the Institute Clinic, SERVICOM Focal Officer, Union Leaders and the Cooperative Society, each providing valuable information on their respective areas.

As the induction programme came to a close, the new staff members, led by Mrs. Gbamgboye Yetunde, Mr. Noah Salisu, and Mr. Faseminikan Tope, expressed their gratitude to the management of NIEPA for the opportunity to join the esteemed institution. They acknowledged that, with renewed enthusiasm and commitment, they are now well-equipped to embark on their roles, armed with a deeper understanding of NIEPA’s vision, policies and expectations.  They further appreciated the trust placed in them and looked forward to contributing their skills and expertise to the growth and development of NIEPA.
