NABTEB Hosts SERVICOM Meeting to Address TVET Service Delivery Gaps
Benin City, October 28, 2025 — Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education sector took a significant step forward with the 3rd Quarter Global Ministerial SERVICOM Committee Meeting, held at the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) headquarters in Abuja.

The event focused on bridging service delivery gaps in TVET, with a theme centered on enhancing standards, certification and employability. In his welcome address, NABTEB’s Registrar, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, stressed the critical role of TVET in driving national economic growth. “We must transform our educational institutions into people-focused and performance-driven engines of national development,” said Dr. Mohammed. He urged all stakeholders in the education sector to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the new TVET Initiative launched by Education Minister, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa CON.

The meeting emphasized the need for stakeholders to promote skills development, shifting focus from white-collar jobs to hands-on expertise, and ensuring certifications remain a badge of quality and employability, recognized globally.

Mr. Ugochukwu Nwosu, the Nodal Officer for SERVICOM at NIEPA, also attended the meeting and highlighted the significance of stakeholder collaboration in improving service delivery within the education sector. In a statement to journalists, Mr. Nwosu highlighted the key discussions during the meeting which centered on: Integrated service delivery models, Citizen-centric feedback mechanisms, Capacity building for collaborative leadership, Technology-enabled coordination and Performance measurement.

He emphasized that these discussions are expected to lead to practical improvements in service delivery through collaborative efforts.
Mr. Nwosu added that other SERVICOM Focal Officers from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the country participated in deliberations aimed at achieving concrete outcomes that would enhance collaborative capacity and service delivery in the education sector.

The meeting concluded with a call to action for participants to commit to the collaborative initiatives emerging from the discussions, with the Federal Ministry of Education reiterating its commitment to providing leadership and support.
