Strategic Alliance: Nigerian Army and NIEPA Ondo Unite to Fortify Educational Security

On Friday, December 19, 2025, the headquarters of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in Ondo State hosted a high-profile working visit from Captain H.J. Fakai, the Assistant Adjutant and Legal Officer of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure. The visit was aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration to ensure a secure environment for educational institutions within the region. The proceedings commenced with the Institute’s New Media Officer, Bodunde Tenabe, introducing the management team to the military delegation and providing a comprehensive highlight of NIEPA’s national mandate as a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Education dedicated to capacity building and training educational planners and managers.
During the extensive dialogue, Captain Fakai emphasized the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting educational centers, noting that these institutions are often targeted by criminal elements. He provided detailed insights into current military patrol operations in areas such as Okitipupa and Igbotako, as well as the establishment of strategic checkpoints at entry points like the Odo-Ondo axis. Furthermore, Captain Fakai highlighted the military’s strict enforcement of internal discipline, including the use of a court-martial system to prevent misconduct and ensure that soldiers maintain public trust while serving.

The Registrar of the Institute was represented by Mrs. Olasunbo Ogunsola, the Deputy Registrar, who expressed appreciation for the military’s punctuality and discipline, acknowledging that the Army’s constitutional role in maintaining peace is vital for administrative and educational activities to thrive without disruption. Other management staff present who contributed to the session included Mrs. Lolade Shittu, the Bursar of the Institute; Mr. Amos Amoo, the Chief Internal Auditor and Deputy Director; and Mr. Femi Adebayo, the Chief Security Officer.
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge for continued partnership and security support, followed by a symbolic group photograph to signify the unified front between the educational and security sectors.
