NIEPA, Airforce Schools Partner on 2-Month Education Capacity Boost
Ondo, Nigeria – The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) commenced a two-month induction and orientation programme for staff of the Nigerian Airforce Schools on Tuesday, October 14, 2024, at its Corporate Headquarters.
In a welcome message, Dr. Adebiyi Shofoyeke, Acting Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIEPA, emphasized the critical role the new inductees will play in shaping the future of education amidst rapid changes in pedagogy and technology. Represented by Dr. Samson Oyeromi, Shofoyeke highlighted NIEPA’s rich history, established in 1992 through a collaborative effort between the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), Paris, and the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), Nigeria.
According to Dr. Shofoyeke, NIEPA’s three decades of experience have solidified its position as a premier institution for educational planning, administration, and leadership development, with a strong presence across the country’s six geo-political zones. “This enables the Institute to meet the Nigerian Airforce Schools’ aspirations through its induction and orientation course,” he stated.
Shofoyeke noted that the induction programme aims to significantly enhance educational standards in basic and post-basic education in Air Force schools and Nigeria.
Squadron Leader Gabriel Falade reaffirmed the Nigerian Airforce School’s vision to foster a dynamic education environment, empowering learners to excel academically and develop integrity. He underscored their mission to empower young classroom leaders, acknowledging NIEPA’s expertise in classroom management. “We assure the highest level of discipline and character from the young officers,” Falade said, pledging increased collaborations between NIEPA and the Nigerian Airforce on behalf of the Chief of Air Staff.
Dr. Sunday Adegbesan, former head of Training and Research department at NIEPA, outlined the programme’s objectives. “The programme focuses on enhancing classroom management skills, optimizing learning processes, and familiarizing participants with education law and ethics,” he explained. “Experienced resource persons will facilitate the programme using diverse teaching methods.”
Briefing newsmen at the end of the opening ceremony, the New Media Officer of the Institute Bodunde Tenabe stated that this strategic partnership underscores NIEPA’s commitment to shaping the future of education in Nigeria and also emphasizes the Institute’s goal of improving school quality and student learning through collaborative efforts.
