NIEPA Cooperative Consolidates Financial Base, Unveils Digital Platform at 28th AGM
ONDO CITY, NIGERIA — The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) Staff Cooperative Multipurpose Society convened its 28th Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 4th August, 2026, at the new NIEPA training hall within the corporate headquarters of the institute in Ondo City. Delivering a robust report of financial growth and expanded member benefits, the gathering served as a strong testament to institutional stability, directly reflecting the broader upward trajectory and regional ascension of NIEPA itself as a parent organisation anchored by a highly secure workforce.
Presenting the audited accounts, Cooperative President Mr. Amoo Amos detailed a consistent upward trajectory for the society. Flanked by his executive team—Vice President Dr. Lato Taiwo, Secretary Mrs. Motilayo Oladele, Assistant Secretary Mr. Bode Oluwadare, and Treasurer Mr. Durodola Sunday—the chairman noted that total assets grew by 20.7 per cent in 2024. This phenomenal leap was followed by a further 17.4 per cent expansion at the close of 2025, while the net surplus simultaneously increased by a significant 201.2 per cent against the 2023 baseline, with an additional 16.1 per cent growth recorded in the 2025 financial year.
In an unprecedented show of financial transparency, the Treasurer, Mr. Durodola Sunday, took the presentation to an entirely new level. He projected the comprehensive breakdown of expenses, income, and overall growth on a large digital screen for all to see. According to long-standing members, this visual exhibition was the first of its kind in the entire history of the cooperative and sparked immediate nods of approval. The hall resonated with widespread satisfaction as members visually confirmed the exact figures being presented by the executive.
Riding on this wave of confidence, Amoo outlined strategic measures implemented to safeguard members’ funds against external economic pressures. Because of this heavily protected liquidity, he further stated, the leadership is officially proposing a substantial increase in the maximum accessible loan amount, with the repayment window simultaneously extended to twenty-four months to comfortably support cooperators.
Taking the floor to address the congress, the Director-General of NIEPA, Dr. David Shofoyeke, commended the executive committee for architecting a highly sustainable financial model. Dr. Shofoyeke noted that the cooperative had achieved undeniable growth and fully supported the plan to diversify income sources. He warned, however, that all new business ventures must be backed by proper, exhaustive feasibility studies. Reaffirming management’s firm stance on prioritising continuous human capital development and institutional empowerment, he assured the congress of his absolute commitment to staff welfare at all times.
Validating the society’s outstanding performance, the Director of Cooperative Services from the supervising ministry, Pastor D. B. Omotehinse, delivered a glowing verdict in the Executive committee’s performance. Leading a regulatory delegation that included Mrs. S. F. Daramola, Mrs. A. S. Olanrewaju, and Mrs. O. O. Adejare, Pastor Omotehinse praised the leadership’s stewardship, advising the cooperative to boldly explore alternative revenue streams. Commercial poultry farming, real estate acquisitions, and transport services were specifically highlighted by the Director as viable frontiers to boost revenue.
The assembly transitioned into a rigorous review session were key stakeholders thoroughly scrutinised the society’s ledgers. Leading the robust discourse, the Registrar, Dr. Festus Olaolu, targeted corporate transparency. With the cooperative currently eyeing the establishment of a commercial bakery, he advised that the core tenets of administration must be strictly upheld throughout the commercialisation drive being embarked upon by the society.
Other staff members took the floor to share their perspectives. Mrs. Glory Olumuyiwa, Mr. Kester Ogbeta, Mr. Kolade Olatunji, and Mr. Femi Akinroyeje all spoke extensively, offering diverse remarks regarding the financial reports and the broader commercial expansion strategies. Adding industrial weight to the session, the NIEPA NASU Branch Chairman, Comr. Salami Ismail Olanrewaju, asked pointed questions regarding the audited accounts and offered vital suggestions. The congress collectively advocated for clearer records as the society aggressively expands.
Gracefully absorbing the feedback, the NIEPA Cooperative President thanked members for their robust contributions and promised an even more streamlined presentation at the next AGM.
Amoo then announced a major operational shift informing members that the society is launching a custom online platform which, according to the chairman, will completely eliminate the need for manual applications and physical office visits. Members can now seamlessly access their shares and savings, monitor monthly deductions, and track the cooperative’s progress directly from their personal devices.
Drawing the vibrant assembly to a close, Vice President Dr. Lato Taiwo delivered a reflective final address that framed the 28th AGM as a clear victory for the society’s collective resilience. As the cooperators prepared to depart, his parting words left a lasting impression on the congress, gently reminding everyone that sound management and forward-thinking strategy will always remain the true anchors of their shared financial future.
