NIEPA Drives Digital Transformation with Advanced Excel Training for Bursary and Registry Staff
ONDO, NIGERIA – The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) has successfully conducted an intensive, cross-departmental capacity-building workshop on Advanced Microsoft Excel for staff of both the Bursary and Registry departments.

Organized to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and automated record-keeping, the comprehensive training forms part of the Institute’s broader commitment to modernizing workflows and achieving digital excellence in educational administration.
Setting the overarching goal for the programme, the Head of the ICT Department, Mr. Akinyamoju Sina, emphasized that digital literacy is no longer optional in modern administration. He noted that equipping key departments with advanced data tools will directly boost productivity across the Institute, and he assured staff of the ICT team’s readiness to provide continuous technical support.
The highly practical, hands-on sessions were expertly facilitated by a team of ICT professionals. Led by Dr. Laide Komolafe, and supported by Engr. Pius Odeluga and Mr. Lanre Ismail, the team guided participants through advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, data validation, and automated data summaries.
Speaking on the direct impact of the training on financial operations, Deputy Bursar Mr. Bola Adejori, representing the Institute’s Bursar, Mrs. Lolade Shittu, commended the timely initiative. He urged the trained accounting officers to immediately apply the newly acquired software tools to automate routine accounting processes, ensuring greater speed and transparency in financial reporting.
In an interview with the Institute’s New Media Officer, Bodunde Tenabe, Deputy Registrar and Head of the Establishment Unit, Mrs. Olasumbo Ogunsola, praised the comprehensive and practical value of the workshop on behalf of the Registry department and all participants. She highlighted that the hands-on exercises allowed them to tackle real-life office scenarios directly related to personnel and records management.
Assuring Management of a strong return on the training investment, she noted that the skills acquired would immediately translate into faster, more accurate service delivery, and emphasized that this shared learning experience has empowered both departments to embrace modern digital workflows together.
Bringing the training programme to a formal close, the Registrar of the Institute and Secretary to Council, Dr. Festus Olaolu, praised the magnanimity and pragmatism of the Institute’s leadership. Highlighting the critical role of the entire workforce, he noted that the continuous capacity development of staff is paramount to preserving NIEPA’s operational excellence.
“Your day-to-day work with files, financial records, and data directly impacts the Institute’s structural efficiency and national reputation,” Dr. Olaolu stated.
He challenged the workforce to view the training as a direct investment in their professional advancement, noting that manual workflows can no longer satisfy growing organizational demands for speed and precision.
He concluded by extending deep appreciation to the Director-General, Dr. David Shofoyeke, for his visionary leadership, affirming that Management remains fully committed to supporting similar skill-based programmes across all departments within the Institute.
