MAY DAY 2026: NIEPA MANAGEMENT CELEBRATES WORKFORCE
ONDO, NIGERIA — The Management of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA NIGERIA), Ondo, warmly felicitates with its dedicated workforce and the entire Nigerian labour community on the occasion of the 2026 International Workers’ Day.
As the world pauses to honour the invaluable contributions of the working class, the Management of NIEPA proudly celebrates the patriotism, resilience, and exceptional dedication of its staff noting that their collective hard work continues to position the Institute as the critical engine driving educational planning and administration across the nation.
In a special May Day address, the Ag. Director-General, Dr. A. D. Shofoyeke, emphasised that the Institute’s ongoing strides in Capacity Building and Education Sector Planning across the country are a direct result of a highly motivated workforce. Management recognises that your daily dedication to our core mandates—delivering high-quality capacity building, executing “training the trainer” programmes, organising impact-driven conferences, and seeking deeper collaborations with education development partners—forms the very pillars upholding the education sector in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Today, we celebrate the true strength of NIEPA—our staff,” Dr. Shofoyeke stated. “Your relentless commitment to our training programmes ensures that our national mandate is not just met, but exceeded. Because you take care of the nation’s educational frameworks, Management is resolutely committed to taking care of you.”
To this end, Management is pleased to reaffirm that staff welfare remains its absolute priority. Following the successful conclusion of the recent staff promotion examinations, Dr. Shofoyeke assured all participating staff that the internal administrative processes have been finalized and is now at the final stage of approval and will be released shortly.
Furthermore, Management dedicated a portion of the May Day address to directly acknowledge the current yearnings and aspirations of the workforce. Dr. Shofoyeke assured the staff that their voices and professional needs are well heard. Management is working tirelessly behind the scenes, engaging relevant stakeholders to systematically resolve these challenges and ensure a more rewarding workplace for all.
The Ag. DG also highlighted that institutional victories are shared victories. He dedicated his recent inauguration onto the board of the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA), Ghana, to the workforce. “This elevation is not a personal achievement; it is a global recognition of the formidable and diligent workforce I am privileged to lead here at NIEPA,” he remarked.
Aligning the Institute’s workforce with national leadership, Dr. Shofoyeke urged the staff to continue drawing inspiration from the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON. The Minister’s recent recognition as the Most Innovative Cabinet Minister of the Year (2025) serves as a clear testament that the technology-driven, “one-government approach” of the Renewed Hope Agenda is actively transforming the sector for the better.

In a solemn reflection amid the celebrations, the Institute paid a heartfelt tribute to the late High Chief (Sir) Simeon Olusola Oguntimehin, OON, FCA, JP (The Lisa of Ondo Kingdom). Management acknowledged him as an exceptional leader, staunch institutional ally, and great mentor whose vital contributions to the continuous stability and growth of the Institute will eternally be appreciated by the entire NIEPA workforce.
As we celebrate Workers’ Day, Management charges all staff to sustain their momentum, knowing that their daily productivity and capacity-building efforts are the keys to unlocking the total revitalisation of the Nigerian education sector.
