The Ag. Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo has appealed to education stakeholders in Adamawa state to join hands with the state government to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning at the basic level of education is strengthened.

He told participants at the opening ceremony held at the COESU Hall, FCE Yola on Tuesday 1st February 2024 in Yola, that the 5-day capacity building workshop with the theme “Improving Monitoring and Professional Skills and Knowledge” will be an expose on how best to use the tools already developed for monitoring of teaching and learning activities at the basic school level. Shofoyeke who was represented by Dr. Opeyemi Oyekan called on the School Support Officers from the 21 LGAs to justify the confidence reposed on them through hard work and dedication to duty especially, as they intensify efforts in visiting schools within their jurisdiction to see for themselves what teaching method teachers at the basic School level dish out to students/pupils.

Dr. Oyekan emphasized on the importance of effective participation of Headteachers and School Support Officers in improving the quality of teaching and learning. He said the objective of the programme was to put the participants in proper shape and train them on how to coordinate activities in their respective schools.  He then charged them to be change agents in their schools while urging them to imbibe contemporary methods and strategies of leadership to transform their various schools.

She further briefed the audience that NIEPA is well on course to deliver on its mandate of empowering education sector planners and managers and therefore commended the Universal Basic Education (UBEC) and State Universal Basic Education Board, Adamawa for the support and patronage.
