NIEPA Staff Cooperative Society Holds 27th AGM, Celebrates Milestones and Future Growth

The 27th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NIEPA Staff Cooperative Multi-purpose Society LTD was held today, 2nd July, 2025, at the Prof. Taiwo Ajayi Hall, Corporate Headquarters of the Institute. The elaborate and glamorous event brought together Cooperators, customers, and esteemed guests to discuss the society’s progress, achievements and future plans. The AGM also provided a platform for the society’s Executive Committee (EXCO) to present the 2024 financial report, highlighting key milestones and successes.

In his welcome address, the President of the Staff Cooperative Society, Amos Amoo, thanked members and stakeholders for their unwavering support, highlighting the society’s achievements and progress. He emphasised the EXCO’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and collective progress. The President outlined the society’s remarkable achievements, including increased loan capacity, prompt loan disbursement, introduction of a Local Purchase Order (LPO) scheme and digitalization of accounts. He thanked members, stakeholders, and the Institute management for their support and cooperation.

In attendance at the AGM was the Acting Director General of NIEPA, Dr. David Shofoyeke, who commended the Amoo-led EXCO for their outstanding work. He acknowledged the society’s tremendous growth, as evident in the financial report, and encouraged them to continue their exceptional leadership. Dr. Shofoyeke’s enthusiasm was palpable as he led the assembly in joyful songs and dances, demonstrating his support for the EXCO. He further praised the financial report, which showcased the society’s remarkable growth and achievements, demonstrating the EXCO’s exceptional leadership and stewardship.

The event also drew officials from the Ondo State Ministry of Cooperative Services, led by Deputy Director Pastor D.B. Omotehinse. Omotehinse praised the Amoo-led EXCO for their remarkable achievements and offered valuable suggestions on potential investment areas to expand the society’s reach and enhance its credit base. He was accompanied by other officials, including Mrs. S.F. Daramola, Zonal Officer, Ondo Zone; Mrs. A.S. Olarewaju, Area Officer, Ondo Area Office; and Mrs. O.O. Adejare, Area Officer, Ile Oluji/Oke Igbo.

In his closing remarks, the Treasurer of the Society, Comrade Sunday Durodola, expressed gratitude on behalf of the EXCO to members, stakeholders, and guests for their support and participation. He emphasised the society’s commitment to transparency, accountability and collective progress and urged members to continue working together towards a brighter future.

The AGM concluded with a sense of optimism and renewed commitment, as members and stakeholders looked forward to the society’s continued growth and success. The event was marked by a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose, as Cooperators and guests alike celebrated the society’s milestones and looked forward to a brighter future.

In a conversation with the media officer, Bodunde Tenabe, after the event, the Bursar of the Institute, Mrs. Lolade Shittu, opined that the 27th AGM was a resounding success that demonstrated the society’s dedication to its members and its mission. Mrs. Shittu stated that the symbiotic relationship between the cooperative society and the Institute has been instrumental in improving the welfare of members and the generality of staff. She further affirmed that the society is poised for continued growth and success, driven by the collective efforts of its members and the exceptional leadership of its EXCO. She advised the EXCO to always ensure commitment to transparency, accountability and collective progress to ensure NIEPA Staff Cooperative Society is an exemplary model of cooperative excellence.
