NIEPA, UNIMED Move to Deepen Institutional Synergy, Boost Capacity Building

ONDO — The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA-Nigeria) and the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) have initiated high-level discussions to deepen institutional collaboration, share critical infrastructure, and enhance inter-agency capacity building within Ondo State.

The commitment was solidified on Monday, July 13, 2026, when the Management of NIEPA, led by its Director-General, Dr. David Shofoyeke, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of UNIMED, Professor Ebun Aderonke Adejuyigbe, in Ondo City.

Setting the tone for the engagement, NIEPA’s Media Officer, Bodunde Tenabe, highlighted the strategic proximity of both federal and state institutions. He emphasized that as specialized pioneers in their respective fields—NIEPA in education sector planning and UNIMED in medical sciences—a closer partnership is a natural and necessary progression for institutional development.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Shofoyeke noted the historically cordial relationship between the two institutions, which has already paved the way for shared access to vital infrastructure such as hostels, clinics, libraries, and transportation. The Director-General reaffirmed NIEPA’s mandate as a capacity-building clearinghouse and pledged to extend these professional training frameworks to UNIMED’s administrative and academic workforce.

Receiving the NIEPA delegation in the company of her management team, which included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Clinical Sciences, Professor Patrick Osho and other principal officers, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ebun Aderonke Adejuyigbe welcomed the capacity-building partnership, describing the visit as highly timely. She highlighted that sustained collaboration with an institute of NIEPA’s caliber would significantly improve teaching quality, bridge operational knowledge gaps, and optimize the university’s workforce.

Reacting to the earlier remarks made by NIEPA’s Media Officer, Professor Adejuyigbe expressed profound excitement at the positive feedback regarding her students’ conduct while utilizing the Institute’s facilities. She commended the NIEPA management for being gracious and accommodating hosts to the UNIMED student community. The Vice-Chancellor proudly noted that the university remains completely free of cultism, emphasizing that producing well-behaved, character-driven students alongside academic excellence is a core testament to the institution’s rigorous leadership and discipline

The engagement concluded with both institutional leaders expressing strong optimism for a robust, mutually beneficial relationship that will advance both the educational and health sectors.

Also, on the entourage of the Director-General for the strategic visit were top management executives of the Institute, notably the Bursar, Mrs. Lolade Shittu, and the Coordinator of the Library, Mr. Adeniyi Adetunji.
