Ekiti SUBEB Reaffirms Partnership with NIEPA, Congratulates Shofoyeke
ONDO CITY: The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reaffirmed its partnership with the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo, while congratulating the Institute’s Director-General and Chief Executive, Dr. A. D. Shofoyeke, on his appointment.
The Executive Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB, Professor Femi Akinwumi, conveyed the message on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, when a delegation from the Board visited NIEPA in Ondo.
The delegation, led by the Director of MDE, Mrs. Olajumoke Fagbohun, and the Deputy Director of MDE, Olori Adewole Kikelomo, said the visit was also an opportunity to strengthen the existing relationship between the two institutions.
Mrs. Fagbohun, who delivered the Executive Chairman’s message, said Professor Akinwumi would have made the visit personally but for official engagements in Ekiti State.
She congratulated Dr. David Shofoyeke on his appointment as the substantive Director-General of NIEPA and expressed the Board’s confidence in his experience and knowledge of the education sector.
According to her, Dr. Shofoyeke’s experience, particularly his understanding of basic education, would be valuable in advancing the mandate of the Institute.
The delegation also presented a commemorative roll-up banner to the Director-General as a gesture of goodwill from Ekiti SUBEB.
The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to reflect on their longstanding collaboration, particularly in the area of capacity building for teachers, headteachers, education managers and other personnel involved in the administration of basic education in Ekiti State.
The partnership has seen NIEPA provide professional training and capacity development support to education personnel in the state, in line with the Institute’s mandate to strengthen the skills of education planners and managers.
Responding, Dr. Shofoyeke thanked Professor Akinwumi and the management of Ekiti SUBEB for the visit and congratulatory message.
He assured the delegation of NIEPA’s continued commitment to supporting Ekiti State and other education institutions through professional training, capacity building and technical support.
Shofoyeke said the Institute would continue to work with state education authorities and other stakeholders to strengthen education planning and administration.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for NIEPA to inform the delegation about its forthcoming 2026 National Quality Assurance Conference, scheduled for October 12 to 16, 2026.
The conference, with the theme, “Digital Transformation and Innovation in Education Quality Assurance,” is expected to focus on contemporary approaches and tools for monitoring and evaluating education quality.
The Ekiti SUBEB representatives indicated their intention to participate in the conference, further underscoring the Board’s interest in continued professional development and collaboration with NIEPA.
