NIEPA Celebrates Education Minister on Emerging as 2025 ‘Most Innovative Cabinet Minister’

ONDO, NIGERIA — The National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) has formally congratulated the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, on his prestigious conferment as the “Most Innovative Cabinet Minister of the Year (2025).”

The Minister received the highly coveted accolade on Saturday, April 18, 2026, during the Silver Jubilee Awards ceremony held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. The award recognizes his dynamic leadership, technological advancements, and swift, reformative actions within the Nigerian education sector.

Reacting to the development, the Acting Director-General of NIEPA, Dr. David Shofoyeke, described the recognition as a highly deserved testament to the Minister’s strategic foresight and his commitment to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr. Shofoyeke specifically lauded the Minister’s “one-government approach,” which has fostered unprecedented synergy among agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education.

“Dr. Alausa’s recognition reflects the tangible administrative and structural reforms currently sweeping through our sector,” Dr. Shofoyeke stated. “Through his championing of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI), the Honourable Minister has provided a clear, technology-driven roadmap.”

The Ag. Director-General further noted that the Minister’s robust framework has significantly bolstered NIEPA’s core mandate. By prioritizing STEMM education, strengthening TVET, and stabilizing the tertiary education landscape, the Ministry has provided NIEPA with the essential backing needed to deliver cutting-edge capacity-building and data governance training to education planners across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
